Title
Claims Adjuster 
DescriptionInvestigate, negotiate, evaluate and settle first party Property Claims within given authority while providing fair, timely, reliable and professional claims service to our policyholders. This is a desk adjusting opportunity working out of our Phoenix, AZ office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Connect with our customer
    • Establish contact with the policyholder within 24 hours of assignment
    • Identify the needs of the caller
    • Demonstrate appropriate understanding and empathy
  • Collect information from our customer
  • Ask appropriate questions and probe to gather required information necessary to adjust the loss
  • Document information into the claims system
  • Maintain an accurate follow up system
  • Establish timely and accurate indemnity and expense reserves
  • Review policy status, coverage, deductible and other policy information in order to verify coverage
  • Educate the customer on the claim handling process
  • Provide clear and accurate expectations and next steps
  • Create and send professional quality correspondence specific to the claim issues
  • Provide status updates to the customer
  • Accurately respond to customer questions and concerns
  • Identify, negotiate and convey settlement and coverage decisions
  • Create and review estimates to ensure accurate settlement
  • Manage third party vendors to ensure quality service
  • Manage file inventory to timely resolution
  • Ability to recognize potential fraud and recovery
  • Handle files in compliance within state regulations and Homesite's core values
  • Convey decisions and messages to our customer

  • Fast paced claims environment with frequent customer contact
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of previous property claims experience or equivalent industry background
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong phone and customer service skills
  • Able to demonstrate empathy and compassion for our customers
  • Excellent business writing skills
  • Ability to articulate decisions, technical knowledge and policies to customers
  • Independent decision making, negotiating and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Must be able to obtain required state licenses; must possess valid TX license
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
  • Xactimate or other claim estimating platforms
  • Insurance designation (CPCU, AIC, ARM)
