JOB SUMMARY:
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides leadership in a partnership effort to help conserve, maintain and improve our natural resources and environment. http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Secretary to the Assistant State Conservationist for Operations, Assistance Programs, ASTCFAP and the Assistant State Conservationist for Operations, ASTCO.

As a Secretary, your major duties will include:
- Providing administrative assistance to the Assistant State Conservationist for Financial Assistance Programs and the Assistant State Conservationist for Operations.
- Providing support to program staff in generating and tracking correspondence for Farm Bill conservation program contract management.
- Receiving telephone calls and visitors, manages appointments and scheduling functions for others.
- Operate computers utilizing approved programs, keyboard documents in word processing, creates and maintain spreadsheets and databases.

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-7, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. For this position, specialized experience is coordinating, monitoring and performing clerical and administrative functions, duties, priorities, commitments, policies and program goals of an office.
Examples of this experience may include:
· Reviews incoming bulletins and/or correspondence regarding changes in program delivery and operations.
· Prepares technical & progress reports for clarity, proper, spelling, grammar, and procedural correctness.
· Receives and reviews incoming mail and identifies proper distribution.

Promotion Potential: This position has no known promotion potential. This position is at the full performance GS-07 level.
