About Vidant Medical Center
Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.
Responsibilities
- Able to read and comprehend recipes using math calculations to determine quantities to prepare.
- Able to accurately measure ingredients using both volume and weight devices.
- Able to properly use all equipment in kitchen such as but not limited to; oven, slicer, mixer, steam kettles, steamers, dishwashers, and choppers.
- Works independently and without constant supervision to make sure goals of the department are met.
- Able to determine when food is safe to be consumed. Knowledge of temperature danger zone, food borne illness, and shelf life of food items.
- Able to take corrective action when a food item is out of compliance and correct immediately.
- Proper knowledge of operating, cleaning, and monitoring all equipment in kitchen such as but not limited to; oven, slicer,mixer, steam kettles, steamers, dishwashers, and choppers.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment such as aprons, slip resistant shoes, hairnets, and goggles.
- Knowledge of harmful chemicals used in department as well as what to do in case of spill.
- Maintain an average of 95 on quarterly sanitation inspections.
- Able to properly set up and break down workstation including cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and tools.
- Safely provides food that meets quality standards and is safe for consumption by patients and customers.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 2 years food preparation experience in a fast paced institution, casual or fine dining establishment

- 1 full time vacancy, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm and every other weekend.
- $10.60 - $16.96
