We are currently seeking a top notch professional, yet fun Learning and Management Development Specialist.

The Learning and Management Development Specialistassesses the training and development needs of all new-managers (newly–hired or newly promoted from within); consults, designs, develops, delivers, and constantly revises appropriate on-boarding, learning, & development training materials, activities, classes, webinars, & other learning resources.  Provides ongoing consultation, collaboration, coaching, & limited training to managers that support successful new-hire management development.  Monitors and evaluates performance of all new-hires during first 90 days to ensure the Servant Leadership Mind-Set, Skill-Set, & Tool-Set for great management performance meets standards in the company culture. 

What you’ll be doing:
  • Designs a variety of management training programs for new-managers, which may include completing training needs assessment and the designing/development of training materials, job aides, and classes.
  • Delivers a variety of classroom, webinar, & social media training events to new managers, related to management/leadership methods and practices that fit within the Waste Connections culture.
  • Ensures that managerial new-hires receive appropriate development activities and are able to demonstrate behaviors and skills appropriate to their position within the designated introductory period; i.e. Coaching skills, interviewing/hiring skills, performance management practices etc.
  • Provides consultative & collaborative input to the new manager’s supervisor on areas of training needs by visiting field sites regularly and interacting with employees and managers.
  • Provides training and coaching for managers and other employees on an individual, departmental, or site basis by making regular on-site visits.
  • Supports the daily administrative management of the company’s Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Completes training-related administrative work accurately and timely.
  • As a Servant Leader, builds and maintains positive relationships throughout the company.
  • Supports and participates in community events and organizations.

What you have to have:
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent with ongoing education in effective learning & development practices.
  • Two years supervisory experience plus three years of non-supervisory operations experience.
  • Fearless facilitation skills, passionate presentation skills, & a zest for making meaningful connections.
  • Motivated “self-starter” able to work independently in a dynamic, de-centralized culture.
  • Ability to identify training needs for new-managers and assist in development of training programs.
  • Effective & concise verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of modern business technology and software necessary for training.
  • Desire to travel 25% of the time to some of the finest secondary markets in the US.
  • Certification and experience facilitating Ken Blanchard and Stephen Covey training materials a plus.
  • A Servant Leadership mind-set that your role is to help others be more successful.
