MICROSOFT RETAIL STORES: OPERATIONS PROGRAM MANAGER

The Microsoft Retail Stores mission is “To Profitably Showcase Microsoft Technology & Illuminate Our Innovation Story by Transforming the Microsoft Devices & Services Experience”.

With 79 stores open across North America and more to come, the Microsoft Retail Stores Business Management & Strategy team is looking for an experienced Operations Program Manager who is a dynamic, self-starter and can blend the skills of big, strategic thinking, with those of operational excellence to help establish the rhythm of this team.

The New Store Opening team (NSO) is responsible for providing input and insight into the processes and practices in place that drive successful store openings and establish a consistent framework for ‘open store’ operations.

The NSO team reviews and establishes best practices, documents process and policies and coordinates all activities from numerous support groups that are integral in preparing for a new Microsoft retail store openings.

If you are extremely organized and detail oriented, follow up meticulously and are not afraid to communicate directly and succinctly with team members at all level, this role may be the one for you.

This project is fast-paced, requires innovative thinking and puts you front & center with our consumer customers. The ideal candidate would be someone who is comfortable helping put parameters and structure around often undefined business situations, collaborates extremely well across a large team of stakeholders, is willing to respond & perform at the ‘speed of retail’, can prioritize projects accordingly, and uses sound judgment in complex situations. 


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

* Help define & lead the business development and strategy discipline for the Microsoft Retail Stores organization. 
* Refine & lead the Microsoft Retail Store New Store Opening (NSO) Process - Understand current process and identify new ways to improve it, ensuring on time delivery of stores and grand openings.
* Identify and develop the need for improved Rhythm of Business (RoB) process & structure, define the key stakeholders, and then implement and drive the process.
* Put the customer first! - Analyze & understand the consumer electronics market, customer, product and broader issues to guide decision-making processes that benefit the customer, Microsoft and the organization.
* Collaborate outside of our immediate work area & span of control to lead projects, ideas or teams across the entire organization.
* Lead a cross-organizational group to develop and prepare executive business presentations
* Demonstrate executive maturity in communications and interaction with senior Microsoft executives.
* Identify patterns and casual relationships in data and break down complex problems to help find solutions. 
* Work with NSO team to document processes and practices, updating after each store opening.
* Conduct detailed weekly or bi-weekly meetings with strategic departmental partners reviewing store drawings in detail to highlight all unique attributes impacting the various teams.
* Be on point to run down and solve issues arising during the NSO process. At times, you will be the ‘go to’ person to resolve critical, time-sensitive issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* 5-8 years of related experience
* Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred or equivalent experience
* Expert understanding of Microsoft Project and Office tools
* Professional Training and Certification: Six Sigma Black-Belt training/certification is a plus
* Expert in building project plans, schedules, action items and driving projects with plans - PMP preferred
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
* Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
