Job Summary
UPMC Presbyterian is hiring casual transplant guardian angels to help support the Abdominal Transplant  Department for its Presbyterian location.  Under the general direction of the Program Administrator, UPMC Transplant Services and according to established standards and procedures, the transplant guardian angel will assist staff with providing support to patients and family members during the pre-transplant admission process. Work days and hours for these positions will vary.
Responsibilities
- Assist with greeting patients and their families upon arrival to the hospital and with navigation to the facility.
- Assist patient and their family members with identification and facilitation of available lodging.
-  Reinforce information provided by the transplant team to the patient and their family members.
- Serve as a communication link between the patient, family members and transplant team regarding updates, actively listening to the family members and conveying questions/concerns to the transplant clinical team.
- Assist the transplant team in the preparation of educational packets.
- Obtain clinical data and enter the information into a clinical database under supervision of the transplant operational staff.
Basic Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent is required.
- One to two years of post-secondary education required, preference in nursing and/or social work.
- Computer skills to support data entry.
- Good communication skills, patient care and customers service skills essential.
