Job Description
PURPOSE: To ensure all ORAU/ORISE facilities and grounds are secured and to enforce all ORAU/ORISE rules and regulations on person entering premises. To maintain a safe working environment for employees that is working after hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides security surveillance for ORAU and ORISE facilities to guard against and report theft, fire, vandalism, equipment malfunction, and unauthorized persons. When incidents occur, notifies the proper responding authority. Checks all doors, windows, gates and locks to ensure that they are secure. Maintains constant radio communication with DOE Oak Ridge Operations Center (OROC).
- Checks on personnel working on site after hours and provides escort if required.
- Investigates any suspicious vehicles or persons on ORAU sites. Escorts unauthorized persons from the sites and warns trespassers. Contacts local police department for response/assistance as necessary.
- Contacts appropriate on-call maintenance personnel as needed for repairs of buildings/facilities/equipment or emergency responses alarm.
- Prepares special incident reports by supplying all pertinent details surrounding any incidents or maintenance items that require attention. Documents tours and all checks of personnel performed.
- Conducts required badge checks and searches of hand carried items. Implements additional measures as required by heightened security conditions.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
- Provides lunch and other relief of the Visitor Control Representative.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent and one to two years job related experience required. Must have a current and valid Tennessee drivers’ license with no major traffic violations. Must be able to perform walkthroughs of all facilities at least twice each night. Must be able to utilize radio and phone for communication. Must be able to assess situations to determine risk to self or others. Must be able to document identified issues and corrective actions in incident reports and must maintain log of all activities/checks performed. Must be able to work 12 consecutive hours for seven consecutive days or nights (80 hour work week. Will work week on/week off, regardless of shift.) Must be able to walk or stand for long periods, both indoors and outside. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" clearance.
