Responsibilities


We are looking for an experienced buyer who is motivated and results-oriented to join our team of Merchants and drive the Juniors & Kids category to new heights. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, extremely organized and passionate about the off-price space.


  • Develop a thorough understanding of the needs, wants and expectations of the customer
  • Build on an already comprehensive understanding of the marketplace and competitors in the Juniors category
  • Leverage the HauteLook and Nordstrom partnership and your existing relationships in the marketplace to develop new suppliers for the company
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and partner to provide optimal scheduling, strategic pricing and style inventory
  • Analyze brand and category prior successes to optimize performance and improve future decision making
  • Strategically negotiate exclusive offerings, terms, pricing, and other terms of business, etc.
  • Partner with Marketing, Planning and Production teams to ensure products are properly merchandised and all pertinent information is included to maximize sale potential
  • Effectively manage and support direct report to develop and meet the needs of the business
  • Review vendor relationship practices and procedures, determine whether improvements can be made and work to implement changes as appropriate
 

 
Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 2 years of market experience
  • Experience and existing relationships within the Kids and Juniors market is strongly preferred
  • Ability to design and improve business processes
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Candidate should be ambitious, organized, and a self-starter
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Travel required
