JOB PURPOSE: The Beverage Product and Innovation Manager is responsible for the overall innovation, direction and strategy of BWW’s spirits, wine and specialty non- alcoholic beverage categories. The Beverage Product and Innovation Manager oversees product sourcing, product development, analytics and distributor relationships for the Beverage Team. In addition, the Beverage Product and Innovation Manager is responsible for acting as a beverage expert regarding beverage operations, training, and drink development
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manages relationships with suppliers to optimize signature drink menu offerings
· WOW the BWW Guest with unique, innovative product offerings that will make BWW stand out as a market leader in the casual dining segment
· Identify Create and develop beverages and maintain global suppliers, control supply chain and purchasing costs, and manages logistics and distribution vendors
· Global sourcing of finished goods
· Collaborate with peers within Guest Experience and Innovation and other cross functional departments on various projects / initiatives that impact beverage sales and innovation
· Analyze beverage procurement history and practices to ensure profit and margin goals are attained
· Identify and implement cost-savings measures to improve margin and profit in beverage categories
· Collaborate with Consumer Insights Team to make informed product decisions
· Conduct surveys and research with Franchisees and bar managers to gain front-line insights into the operation and needs of BWW’s spirits and wine programming
· Work with Q&A Food Safety Manger to conduct yearly reviews /audits of manufacturers and distributors
· Conduct periodic supplier business reviews
· Negotiate terms and conditions of purchasing agreements
· Manage back bar mandates and provide recommendation for consolidation /expansion where appropriate
· Vet all recipe submissions
· Interface with Marketing to ensure direction fits our brand architecture
· Interface with Training to ensure proper bar procedures are included in all projects and initiatives
· Lead the drive to implement gap and competitive analysis overviews
· Conduct survey sand research with Franchisees and bar managers to gain front-line insights into the operation and needs of BWW’s spirits and wine programming
· Work with Q&A Food Safety Manger to conduct yearly reviews /audits of manufacturers and distributors
· Work with Purchasing/Logistics Manager on product analysis to ensure production demands are met for product testing, L.T.O.’s, and recurring promotions.
· Manage Restaurants Distributor/Manufacturer beverage issues and purchasing communication
· Maintain high level knowledge of leading flavor trends and cocktails
· Maintain high level of knowledge of bar equipment
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collaborates with peers within Guest Experience and Innovation and other cross functional departments on various projects / initiatives that impact beverage sales and innovation
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/ or Manufacturing/ comparable
· Minimum of combined 8-10 years of experience in bar operation, sourcing, negotiation, training, OR R&D
· Previous experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers
· Previous experience as a Bartender/Mixologist with high level of working knowledge of bartending and must possess the ability to create beverages
· Previous experience as a Trainer, possess strong presentation skills and the ability to create training materials
· Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for supplier site visits, including international travel
· Knowledge of food service industry, restaurant operations, procurement, distribution systems, and supply chain management
· Skilled in determining whether tasks should be attempted, identifying the most effective way of completing the task and preparing how to overcome unexpected difficulties
· Utilize a variety of resources to complete a research assignment and be able to summarize and present your findings
· Skilled in the ability to create cocktails that are on trend, easily executable, and match our brand
· Ability to objectively review all recipe submissions and adjust any procedure or ingredients to match our current program standards
Preferred
· Experience working within franchisee business environment
· Minimum 4-years restaurant operations and management
